Love this! July 21, 2010 LisaO We bought this software to go with our Bamboo Craft. It is very easy to use and has many wonderful functions. I've designed Tshirt designs with this program for our business. It is also fun and easy for the kids to doctor up photos or create their own graphics and drawings. It has been a very useful introduction to digital art for our 11 year old son. We're very happy with this purchase.
A Worthy Arrow in Any Digital Artist's Quiver July 16, 2010 Ronald Hammond (Key West, FL USA) I've used Painter for a long time and am currently quite happy with Painter 11, but without a doubt the learning curve was steep, but after many years, I consider myself proficient. And I can do just about anything in Painter one can do with sketchbook. Okay that Symmetry Tool they've added is one hot tool. You draw on one side of the X or Y axis (you decide which axis) and the program draws the exact opposite on the other side. Ever try to draw the front of a car, well after using this, you'll be hooked.
Wait! Am I saying you'll be hooked on a program that isn't my beloved Painter. I almost feel like a traitor, because this program is really starting to grow on me. I've only been using it for a month now and I find myself opening it more and more. And remember that steep learning curve I was talking about with Painter. Well, no learning curve with Sketchbook Pro. If you've got a tablet and a stylus, you'll be able to figure it out in minutes, no manuel required. That's really something.
In closing I'd like to say, if you're the kind of person who just feels comfortable with a sketchpad and a pencil, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with Sketchbook Pro. I know I was.
Great program where your imagination is the limit June 29, 2010 A. J. Ollarzabal (Japan) ** First off I want to warn those who have purchased or thinking of purchasing the Wacom Intuos4 tablet. I just bought this great tablet (MEDIUM size)and went along with the (Amazon recommendation link "Customers who purchased this also bought + ...) And bought this program almost wasting $90, because Wacom Intous4 tablets comes with the program for download. I didn't know this since the info screen does not describe what free programs you get with the tablet for download. **
If you already have what you need to start digitally drawing, and you do not have this program... GET IT! I agree with the posters who gave this a 5 star since I gave 5 myself. I don't have anything to say that hasn't been said, except for the misleading amazon link.
Lacking in key functionality May 28, 2010 Rikonius 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
While the different brushes are cool, this program is sorely lacking in several areas, which make it useless to me and not worth the $80 it cost me:
It has no text tool. I have never seen an art tool that lacks a text tool (even MS Paint has that!) until I tried to use Sketchbook Pro.
It has no filters. I'm not expecting a legion of cascading filter menu options like Photoshop has, but are a few simple filters too much to ask? I don't think so.
It has no color shifting (lighten darken or tint adjustment) capabilities.
It lacks the capacity to make boxes (unless you use the kludgy shift to make straight lines then erase the corners method)
This lack of capability would not be suitable for a freeware app, much less one which costs $80. So save your money and get something better.
True to it's name. May 14, 2010 Gary Paultre Sketchbook Pro is a great application for very little money. Great if your an Artist or an Art Director. I'm starting to get used to the interface, which is very different from the Adobe suite of products, and I'm starting to incorporate it into my workflow.
