4 out of 5 stars Easy to set up and use...   March 27, 2010
S. Medina (Richmond, VA United States)
I purchased this to replace a Linksys WAP that I was never able to get working with an old HP PC (that might have been partly due to the computer though). The Time Capsule took maybe 3 minutes to set up and was working without a hitch (even the software for Time Capsule is easy to use). I have noticed from time to time the backup feature does lose its wireless connection. That is a little pest but can easily regain a connection. In all I really like this Apple product and the company that I purchased it from. It came in working order and with all the necessary documentation.

5 out of 5 stars Very pleased - Apple offers great products   March 2, 2010

The time machine was easy to install and secure. Very functionally replaced my d-link and was far easier to set up and secure. We were told D-link was compatible with Mac but it was a constant struggle to use and never stayed secure. The time machine easily set up for both our Mac and our PC's,secured and backed up effortlessly. It is a far more functional wireless networking device. Love it so far.

Also the vendor was outstanding. Very fast shipping. Couldn't be happier.

5 out of 5 stars Love Time Capsule   March 2, 2010
Carol Mosier (Cottonwood, AZ United States)
I had a WD book backup drive before this and it failed. This is so simple to set up, especially on a Mac. It is quietly sitting across the room backing up now, quietly and efficiently without any error messages saying "failed to back up". What a relief!! I am also figuring out how to use it to back up my hubby's PC.

4 out of 5 stars guest network vs backup frequencies   February 5, 2010
Fred Clancey (Boulder Colorado)
This is such a convenient product that supports two networks. I leave one network, "guests" unprotected for any friends or neighbors who would like to use it -- very nice for visitors who want to pull out their latest wifi gadget (esp a voip device) to show you w/o having to ask for your password which feels awkward to both parties.

So many people, like myself, have failed to make frequent backups in the past that the TC is a great product since it makes backups soooo easy. But when I get realistic about how infrequently I used to make backups (once/yr?) why, pray tell would I think it essential to make backups once/hr? Why couldn't Apple have provided a feature in it's Time Machine software to pick another frequency, like once/week? This is especially pertinent for households with multiple computers to back up. I tried to install some 3rd party software that allows the user to pick backup their frequency, but that failed. So ... I resorted to hitting the "Backup Now" cmd whenever I want; otherwise, I would not have been able to have
1 -- amply frequent backups of three machines across a long time period
2 -- the less expensive 500GB TC and
3 -- large caches for my browsers (backups for which are not important)
