Good value for the Crucial Memory Upgrade September 8, 2010 S. Lee (California) I had this old Dell Inspiron Laptop for over 5 years and now it starts to get very unbearable slow for the many applications which need more memory than the 1GB capacity that it came with when I ordered this machine. After adding the extra 1GB on the laptop, now everything is running much smoother and more responsive. I think I just have a quick solution of extending the usable life of this machine for another couple years which this low costs upgrade. I highly recommend that you check on Crucial Memory upgrade when you need to add more RAM to your machine. Crucial makes very reliable and affordable high quality memory for your computing needs.
Compatible with Thinkpad T43p September 7, 2010 Erich Maria Remarque (USA) Installed and works great in my IBM Thinkpad T43p. Dual channel mode was enabled, but speeds defaulted at the PC2 4200 equivalent (not PC2 5300), since that's the hard upper limit in that particular Thinkpad model. Timings were 4-4-4-12 (however, they will be 5-5-5-15 if you run it at the PC2 5300 rated speeds).
I also ran Memtest86+ for about an hour with no errors.
Highly recommended.
Much better than buying memory from Apple August 30, 2010 umbraphiles I was torn between buying the Crucial RAM or buying the 2x 1GB set from Apple due to concerns that (since Jobs is a nutcase) the Crucial wouldn't fit my mid-2007 MacBook white/function properly (recommended dimensions from Apple are slightly smaller than the dimensions listed here), but I'm glad I saved myself $50 by going with Crucial. Snapped in perfectly and was recognized as soon as I booted up my computer! Activity Monitor looks much happier since the upgrade from 2 512MB sticks, and the increase in speed is noticeable.
Many people seemed to have issues with the shipping, but I received it within a week. I do agree that it could have been packaged better (only came with a couple of air packs), but it wasn't damaged so I'm not worried.
The only concern if you're buying this for a Mac computer is that your machine may not recognize the Crucial RAM if you have to do a clean install, so just keep your old RAM as backup. I don't see that this would be a problem, but I have had to do a clean install in the past, so I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Bottom line is that the Crucial RAM is half the price of the Apple RAM, it fits fine in their older MacBooks, and I've definitely noticed the increase in speed. I'm a happy camper.
works great August 14, 2010 Carlos I have an iMac G5 intel core duo 2 which originally came with tiger and needed this to upgrade straight to Snow Leopard. It is just the right memory that i needed, no shipping errors, a little late but once i got it it worked straight out of the package, no problems =)
Just as advertised. August 9, 2010 G. Escalera (Upland, CA) I purchased this memory for a friends Gateway P-6822 laptop. It had 1GB running on Windows Vista. Got rid of Vista for Windows 7 and swapped the memory for the Crucial 2GB. The machine runs much faster now. I've had very good luck with Crucial memory in the past and this lived up to the expectations.
