$1300 Piece of Junk December 10, 2006 Aimee Woods (USA) (See my post below dated 2004)
This laptop was only used for email & DVD viewing. The modem broke within 2 months of purchase followed by a flickering LCD screen. The harddrive crashed completely within 18 months. Customer service was a joke. I was put on hold every time I called with no resolve. Even with its warranty, HP wouldn't repair it.
I've switched to IBM and will never look back! What a difference!
Kinda Pointless Now but... May 9, 2006 Elizabeth Twohig-Gibson (Seattle, WA USA) This has been a horrible computer compared to the others that I/my dad have had (about 10 i think between us). I have had it for four years, to the day in two days. It seems to have gone into failure. Different parts have broken down since i've had it. First the battery and ac adaper within the first year and HP was utterly no help. I had to wait 8 months for my supplimental warranty to replace them because HP would not. Then just after the first year the hard drive crashed for no reason, just stopped spinning. This happened again two years late and they were both the ones that HP sent out for the laptop. Also the keyboard had been unresponsive, even though it has been examned and there is no mechanical problem. Same with the sound. It has been intermittent for a couple of years and there is no known mechanicl or software cause for this. Over all I have decided never to buy HP again (or Compaq), which is too bad because they used to be a decent brand.
JUNK ZT1135 October 11, 2005 fred (lee's summit, MO United States) Can not get HP to help me with parts, battery short lived, sent back to HP they fixed nothing. Will never buy from them or Best Buy

I had this laptop for about 30 months. I added 512MB of memory and after 12 months or so the hard drive would not boot so I took out the additional memory and it worked fine for another 3 months. Then the hard drive starting acting up, clicking and sputtering along. Eventually the hard drive just gave up and I could not boot up the OS. I also had problems with the screen flickering. There must have been a bad connection between the lid (screen) and the main body of the laptop. I had to move the screen slightly and the picture would appear, but then it would go blank on its own. I must admit I used this machine very hard. I took it on business trips and used it every day to do on-line college courses. I was hoping for a longer life than 30 months.
Economical, tough, and reliable July 5, 2004 George A. Burns (Lake Worth, FL USA) I have owned and used this machine almost every working day since June 2002. It is now July 2004. Used mostly on my daily commute with 3 hours of train rides, I had to purchase a used battery to complete the day since the main battery lasts 2 1/2 hours only. I have replaced 3 headsets and 3 mice in this time. My train ride is too rocky to use the working touch pad when photo editing, working in speadsheets, or designing GUI interfaces. This is the first laptop I have owned. Soon I shall install wi-fi and this should make the zt1135 more usable at home since two other computers share the DSL and printer now.
